ENDOCRINE SURGERY Co-Conveners: Simon Harper
RACS 88TH ANNUAL SCIENTIFIC CONGRESS
Monday 6 May to Friday 10 May 2019
Centara Grand & Bangkok Convention Centre | Bangkok, Thailand
Convened by RACS New Zealand asc.surgeons.org
We look forward to welcoming you to the Endocrine Surgery section of the 2019 RACS ASC in Bangkok Thailand – organized from New Zealand! The overall tagline for the meeting is, “The Complete Surgeon: Backing the Future” and as a whole the ASC will also focus on generalism in an era of increasing sub-specialization.
The invited speakers this year are well known and highly regarded in the Endocrine Surgery World, Professor Sally Carty from Pittsburgh, USA, former president of the AAES and Professor Deepak Abraham from Vellore, India who will be joined by our DCAS visitor Dr Larwence “Drew” Shirley – we’re looking forward to their excellent and wide-ranging contributions. Other highlights are sure to include Dr Christine Lai and Professor Jonathan Serpell debating the use of the nerve monitor in thyroid surgery and a session entitled “Controversies and the Future”. These sessions will be supported by a wide range of speakers from across Australia and New Zealand discussing current issues in Thyroid, Parathyroid and Adrenal disease as well as some “Lessons from the Learning Curves” of notable Australasian surgeons. Don’t forget the Masterclass where our panel of experts will provide insight on "Intraperative Challenges in Endocrine Surgery: dealing with the unexpected”. To add to this we are looking forward to the always high-quality original research contributions from the ANZES members and further afield.
Complementing the scientific program is the section dinner. We will be joining forces with the Breast Surgery section for this event to be held in the beautiful surroundings of the Glass House in Nai Lert Park – get your tickets before they sell out!
In addition to the Endocrine Surgery program a stimulating quartet of plenary sessions will explore Generalism, Global Health, Diversity and Future Horizons in the modern practice of surgery.
Hope to see you all in Bangkok in May.
