Dr. Rajinikanth JanakiramanMaxillofacial / Head & Neck Surgery

Dr Janakiraman is a senior specialist Head and Neck surgeon practicing at Darwin Private Hospital and Royal Darwin Hospital. His area of expertise includes head and neck malignancies, thyroid cancers, parathyroid adenomas, skin cancers including microvascular reconstruction and facial trauma. He has over 30 peer reviewed publications in the field of head and neck surgery including reconstruction.

Dr Janakiraman completed his undergraduate & postgraduate training at South India and was practicing as a general surgeon before undertaking Head & Neck subspecialty fellowship training at St. George's Hospital, London, UK and facial trauma fellowship at Darwin, NT.

He was a permanent faculty at Christian Medical College, Vellore, India, a 2500 bedded tertiary care hospital for more than 15 years. During this tenure, he established and served as the Director of Head and Neck Surgery Department and the fellowship program coordinator. He has trained around 15 surgeons and was actively involved in research collaboration with other institutes.

Dr Janakiraman has won several travel grants and spent time at various leading centers including RPA, Sydney, MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston and MSKCC, New York, USA.

In 2019, he moved to Darwin and has been practicing head and neck surgery including facial trauma and serves as an adjunct lecturer in Flinders University, SA
