Training Opportunities

Training in Endocrine Surgery in Australia may be experienced with one of two main pathways.

The first is during Advanced Surgical Training leading to the Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in the specialty of General Surgery. This is a 4 year programme and trainees may undertake a 6 month rotation either in endocrine surgery, breast and endocrine surgery, or oncology and endocrine surgery. Details are available at RACS.

The second pathway is post fellowship training i.e. after completion of the FRACS in General Surgery. There are a number of funded Fellowships available in Australia.

  1. Mayne Fellowship in Breast and Endocrine Surgery (Brisbane). Contact Professor Ian Gough.
  2. T.S.Reeve International Clinical Fellowship in Endocrine Surgery (Sydney). Contact Professor Leigh Delbridge.
  3. AES Endocrine Surgery Fellowship (Northern Sydney Health - Hornsby Hospital). Contact Professor Stan Sidhu.
  4. Westmead Breast and Endocrine Fellowship (Sydney). Contact Mr Owen Ung.
  5. Royal Adelaide Hospital (Adelaide). Contact Mr Peter Malycha.
  6. Queen Elizabeth Hospital (Adelaide). Contact Mr Robert Parkyn.
